The Higher Commission for Industrial Security (HCIS) honored Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) for supporting, sponsoring and participating in the three-day 16th International Conference and Exhibition for Industrial Security.

Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC vice chairman and CEO, received the honorary plaque from Gen. Saeed A. Al-Qahtani, director of Public Security at the inaugural ceremony of the conference, which was organized by the HCIS.

After inaugurating the exhibition, Gen. Al-Qahtani visited the SABIC pavilion and inspected its innovative design, inspiring ideas and specialized exhibits, which included SABIC’s success stories in industrial security, health, safety, site protection and industrial fire-fighting.
He listened to a brief explanation from Al-Garni and company representatives and specialists, and also SABIC’s efforts in protecting its manufacturing complexes, operational sites and supporting facilities. He watched a film on SABIC’s vast experience industrial security, safety, and fire-fighting.
Addressing the conference on behalf of SABIC, Al-Mady said, “Providing safe and healthy conditions at the work site is indispensable for the continued growth and prosperity in the industrial sector in the Kingdom.”
He also touched on the subject of reducing the environmental footprint through adopting sustainability programs.
In addition to its membership in the organizing committee of the conference, SABIC also participated in the conference through three streams. The first, through its platinum sponsorship of the conference; the second, through its distinguished pavilion at the exhibition; and third, by way of making specialized presentations.

The topics of SABIC’s presentations were on Leadership Effectiveness in Crises Management by Sayer Al-Shammeri, GM, environment, health, safety and security (EHSS); Initiative to Improve Contractor Safety Performance by Ali Al-Ghamdi, EHSS safety senior manager; Responsible Care Security Code of Management Practices by Hasan Al-Shaik, EHSS security senior manager, all from SABIC; and the Impact of Overconfidence on Safety Performance by Abdullah Al-Ahmari, EHSS senior manager, Hadeed.
SABIC’s participation and sponsorship of the conference and exhibition is driven by its sense of national responsibility, the added value it provides to Saudi Arabia’s strong and growing economy, and its position as a local and international industrial leader.
SABIC said it recognizes its mission to be well beyond having a presence at this annual event; it represents Saudi Arabia alongside other national companies, experts and academics from all over the Kingdom and abroad.
By actively participating in the past sessions of the conference and exhibition as well, SABIC has partnered with governmental and other national organizations to make the annual event an ideal platform for presenting and exploring new scientific advances in security, fire-fighting, health and occupational safety in Saudi Arabia.
